A different blog of mine last week went viral. It was intended for my clients but it sparked high passions. Extremists, both liberal and conservative, from across North America, chimed in. There were 90 comments about the pros and cons of the Patients Protection and Affordable Care Act.
The problem is that it was very obvious that neither conservatives nor liberals have taken the time to actually study the legislation. They just parroted, with passion, the same old arguments that have been tossed about for over 2 years by the politicians. Although they will not admit it, they are letting someone else make up their mind for them.
Whether or not we like the new law is immaterial. It is the law of the land until it is modified by a future congress and president. As insurance agents, your customers will look to you to understand the new law. While you may have a strong opinion about it, I know I do, your clients are looking for facts, not your opinion.
I challenge every insurance agent to set aside his/her emotions long enough to take a 10 question quiz about the PPACA to see how well you actually understand what is in the law. In the future there will be additional quizes but this should be adequate to determing how well you understand the bill. If you can answer at least 7 of the questions you have a pretty good grasp of the new law. If you are only able to answer 5 or fewer questions, you probably need to review it some more before you give professional advice to clients.
PS: There’s nothing on TV on the weekends but football anyway. (Yeah!) Hopefully, you will find time to complete this quiz between games. What else are you going to do? Spend time with your family? 🙂
